Should I Do It?

I am so dying to rent one of those heart doppler things, but I'm contemplating as to whether or not I should because I will get to hear it on August 4. I want to wait because I want to look forward to something, besides being pricked for blood, at my next appointment, but I am sooooo anxious to hear the heartbeat. What is a girl to do...

Hey Ju! Tasha was mistaken, she rented it after her 12 week appointment, she had a pregnancy brain moment! LOL! (I am on the phone with her right now with her) The reason they wait until 12 weeks to listen to the heartbeat is because before then most of the time you cannot hear or find the heartbeat. I do not recommend renting the doppler until ATLEAST 12 weeks, after you go to the doctors office and they show you how to use it.

If you have any questions let me know! I used that thing for about 7 months!

So my vote is YES, but wait until 12 weeks to order it!

I also got one of those Bebe Beat heart monitors with my son. I bought it around my 3rd or 4th months and it didn't work until I was close to 7 months along. The ones you can buy in the stores aren't as good as the ones you rent from the hospital. I wouldn't recommend buying one till you are further along because it will just frustrate you when you try to find the beat, but only hear your own! I remember when I first tried it I heard my own heartbeat and got so excited because I thought it was the baby. But when I asked my doc she said it was my own I was hearing and that I would know the difference once I heard it. That wasn't until I was around 7 months. But yes, at my most recent prenatal, I got to hear the baby's heartbeat and got to see him/her too on the ultrasound. It was amazing.

The place that Tasha and I both rented ours was from www.babybeat.com

The ones from like Babies "R" Us are no way close to as good as these are. The ones you rent from Baby Beat are the exact same ones that they use in the doctors offices.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I found you through Taylor :)

I didn't rent one with my daughter, I would have loved to but I knew the moment where she would get into weird positions and me not be able to find her would come and I would freak out. And after losing 2 babies I didn't need anymore anxiety. So it was a pretty easy decision for me.

I loved hearing her heartbeat at the doctor, each time was so special.

I got one and didn't find it to be overly user-friendly. But that was just me...

I rented one from storkradio.com, but eventually my husband made me send it back because I was getting neurotic with it if I couldn't find the heartbeat (baby was facing the wrong way, had moved, etc.). It was beautiful when I would hear it and made me feel close to him.
