The Same Old Me

So here we are at the end of March and I have made no changes to my eating habits or made an effort to hit the gym on a regular basis which is resulting in me going nowhere. I really need to stop making excuses and stop procrastinating and get my butt into a habit of eating healthy and working out. I have two weddings to attend in September and I intend to look good damn it. September is only six months away!

So an update on Alexa. She has acid reflux. She is just crying non-stop and spitting up her formula. The pediatrician prescribed Prevacid, but I don't think it's helping. A friend of mine has a child who had acid reflux the first year of his life and she had to take him to a specialist and get liquid Prevacid and change his formula, so we have an appointment with a specialist the end of April. It's so far away, but that was the earliest appointment he had. My friend said Alexa will be a totally different baby once we get the right formula and the liquid Prevacid. I sure hope so.

Alexa has just recently started to look at us and smile. Not a lot, but you can catch her at just the right moment looking at you and smiling. I sure hope she does it more often sometime soon because she looks so cute when she smiles.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday and have a great week!

Can't wait to see some pics of that cute little smile! I'm sure you'll get more and more as the weeks go by.

Have you tried switching her formula yet? Like, trying what your friends baby used? I think that Enfamil makes special formula for babies with acid refulx I think that it's called Enfamil AR...maybe you can try that to get her through to the Dr. appt in April?

Good luck, I hope she's feeling better soon!

Oh, poor baby, that sucks big time!! All my kids spit up allot, especially Zachary and it sucked. Pretty much walking around with a whole blanket drapped over you!! Like Kari said maybe try weaning her to a different formula and see if it helps. I always used Carnation Good Start (the one with comfort proteins) and I never had a problem after that (that was what I weaned them to after breastfeeding). I hope she gets better soon. Oh I just read an article on the Medela website about acid reflux and babies. You should check it out!!

Oh poor baby girl! I hope that stuff kicks in and works soon! We used the Walmart brand of formula and never had any problems with it at all. Good luck!

And you're not the only one who can't get in a habit of working out. I can NEVER stick to that stuff.

Sorry, I keep making you bounce back and forth!!! lol

The way I weaned my kids was of course with breastmilk I started mixing a little formula in with the breastmilk and gradually moved up the amount. I think I started by replacing like an ounce of breastmilk with an ounce of formula, then just upping it to 2, then 3. I think I did it over a period of like 2 weeks. I think I went like 3 days to make sure there was no reaction or anything, then after that 3 days, I would up it. That's the best way I can see. Sometimes babies can just switch over without the weaning and have no problems. I would call your Pediatrician just to make sure, maybe he or she will tell you just to switch!! That's just the way I did it and it worked well. It's the same way I did it when I switched them from formula to cows milk when they turned 1.

I hope Alexa gets to feeling better soon!! I know how frustrating it can be with all that going on. They gave Zachary Zantec (acid reflux meds) when I complained of him spitting up allot and being collicy and it didn't do him any good, so I just stopped giving it to him. Around 3 months his spitting up lessened and it got much better. I just figured it is something my kids do because Olivia was the same way and now Seth is spitting up like crazy. I think my kids are just pukey kids!!!

Good luck, let me know how things work out for you and Alexa!!! Keep smiling, it only gets better over time!! ;)

OH and the Pediasure, I never heard of that. As far as I know, formula should be all she needs. But again, ask your pediatrician, they should be able to tell you.

Sorry for the multiple comments and books!! lol
